Bhavani GS has been fascinated with art from Childhood. Studying masters in paining at Chitrakala Parishat after perusing commerce was more systematic and in depth. She is practicing art since 2000.
Initial works of painting has been inspired from her childhood and a passion towards symbolic still life. Which later became more towards outdoors with her changing personal circumstances.

Being born and brought up in the mountain ranges of Kodagu & in the midst of Coffee planation her inspiration is deep with her roots. Painting being her primary expression she started doing land art on the forest floor of Kodagu with the available material and matter found on there depending on the season.
Being inspired by the wild forest she always don’t miss the occasion to be able to trek and live close to forest.

Being fascinated with movies and moving images from small she started making short art videos first one being “Textures of Forest and City” ( 2009) continuation of her Painting “Self 1” & “Self 2” representing herself half in Mountain range and Half in the City of Bangalore. Since then Her works have become Multi disciplinary, Conceptually being Environmental, Rivers and about Self.

She has been to many residencies in India , Germany, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and recipient of many grants and awards. She has been in many curated shows curated By Lina Vincent, Suresh Jayram, Ralf Homann, Aditi Ghildiyal, Elke Falat, Amanda Morgan, Helen Reyment, and in many more water festivals in
India and Abroad. Being more concerned about water her ongoing project is about River Cauvery, her tributaries since 2009. Besides showing her works in galleries and festivals she also shows her works in schools and colleges.

Bhavani GS is Living and working in Bangalore and Kodagu, Karnataka.
